Empowering

You never know what someone’s capable of—until you believe in them first.

I asked my family if they wanted to run a 5K with me.

No pressure. Just an open invite.

To my surprise, they said yes.

This morning we ran together. We sweated together. We laughed. It poured rain at the end. My nephew and my uncle—beat me across the finish line.

But I’ve never been prouder to lose.

Because this wasn’t just a run.
It was a reminder of something I’ve learned from the people who empowered me—Mrs. Gibbs, my high school ukulele teacher, and Dr. Miller, my professor at Marymount University:

When you take the time to believe in someone, it creates a ripple effect.

You help them see themselves differently.

And sometimes, the people you lift up… start flying past you.
Which, to me, is the whole point.
