Good Advice by: Hoffy Beats and Kust
I'm back in Vietnam now, after spending a month in my hometown with my family. A lot happened in that month. One thing that happened was that my life purpose became clearer after reading Start With Why and Find Your Why by Simon Sinek. It looks like this insight can be triggered by anyone, it just takes answering 4 questions and using pattern-finding skills.
Here are the 4 questions
1) Who is someone in your life who has had a positive impact on you and what did they do?
2) Was there ever a time at your job when you felt so fulfilled and wouldn't mind doing that work for free?
3) What is your worst memory at work, what happened and what did you learn?
4) What is your favorite childhood memory?
Upon answering these questions, a pattern should appear in your answers. If give it a shot let me know, I'd love to know about your results! Here's an example of mine.
1) Mrs.Gibbs and Dr.Miller. They both empowered me and made me realize that I genuinely had skills. I should add Mr.Burke too because he did give me the Glen McCarthy award my senior of high school, WOW I had totally forgotten about that until right now!
2) The time when I had a student struggling at my job at a local English center in Saigon. We helped him learn some of the basics and his progress began to genuinely show! I distinctly remember feeling extremely fulfilled after that lesson, I was looking forward to teaching that kid again. However we didn't know that his parents didn't want him to continue having lessons anymore and suddenly he wasn't in my class anymore.
3) My worst memory at work was when I worked at a local restaurant in Centreville, Virginia and it was New Year's Eve. I had to work until past midnight that evening and I got to watch everyone celebrating the countdown with their friends while I was walking around bussing tables. This fucking SUCKED because on past New Year's Eves I had always celebrated with friends and family members. I felt that I should never let myself work on New Year's Eve again and I haven't 😄
4) My favorite childhood memory is going to Ocean City, Maryland with a big group of family members. I remember my cousin Diego and his family being there and I was so happy that we could all chill at the beach together. Wow, what a great time for real.
AFTERWARDS
Put the pattern into this sentence.
To ________ ,
So that _______________ .
When I tried this on myself in my hometown, this was the result.
Life purpose: To empower people, so that they can do the things they love without doubting themselves.
HOWEVER, check this out. I tried it again just now, and it produce these other sentences.
To help people feel accepted so that they can feel free to be themselves.
To help people realize they are priceless so that they can stop trying to increase their value as a human being.
To help people realize the amazing progress they have already done, so that they can stop beating themselves up about not doing enough.
To help people learn how to have a calm mind so that they can do their daily tasks with less stress.
I'm not sure why this is happening, but it's possible that my "true" life purpose is all of these put together with many more sentences. How to put all of that into one sentence, can we try?
To help people to 'awaken' so that they can share those frequencies with the planet and help to heal it.
Ok this sounds familiar, people have been calling this 'raising consciousness' right?
And it should be okay to plant seeds of awakening in the world, even if we are not alive to see them grow 😊 Whoa now I can hear my 'mind' complaining, "But I want to see the results of my hard work!" And that ladies and gentlemen is what we call the 'ego'. Some people also call it the 'inner child'. Napoleon Hill would call it the 'devil'. Jeez, so many labels! I choose to stick with the label inner child, that way I am more able to communicate with it. It doesn't like to be judged. ANYWAYS jesus that topic is for another day.
Take care everyone, thanks for reading!
Much love!
