What is 'Happiness'?

Have you ever tried to buy happiness?

How did that turn out?

Wouldn't it be hilarious if happiness was FREE?

Have you ever watched kids playing? Luckily I teach ESL to 4th grade students in Vietnamese public schools, so I get to witness kids playing every day. These kids are HAPPY running around barefoot and chasing each other, pranking each other and laughing at random things throughout their day. It must be why they love to watch the minions movies, kids ARE minions!

How did adults forget how to do this?

What made us get so serious?

Have you ever asked a kid to pretend to be an adult? The kid will make a serious face.

Is happiness the same thing as pleasure? Or are they 2 different things? If you want non-stop pleasure then I guess you could take your drug of choice for as long as you can, although the downside is that eventually you would gain tolerance to the drug and you would have to increase the dosage until you accidentally die.

So if happiness isn't pleasure, then what is it?

Is it something related to acceptance? Is it something related to surrender? Is it a by-product of gratitude? Is it something that is felt when we no longer seek it?

Something to think about.
